13 Settembre 2022Il corso fornisce una panoramica introduttiva sul concetto di agricoltura verticale (vertical farming), con particolare attenzione alle tecnologie disponibili (sia di coltivazione che di Industria 4.0), gli aspetti più recenti dei risultati delle ricerche in merito, con focus particolari su ciò che può essere effetivamente coltivato.
Le singole lezioni forniranno le nozioni di base su come allestire una fattoria verticale, i processi di progettazione e design, le autorizzazioni urbanistiche e il coinvolgimento degli abitanti di un’area urbana o extraurbana.
Le lezioni includono le presentazioni di progetti già realizzati.

Introduction to Vertical Farming
This webinar provides an overview of all things vertical farming, including technologies available, research, and what can be grown. Participants will review the basics of how to set up a farm, including a presentation from vertical farming business, Mighty Harvest Produce.
Applied Principles of Vertical Farming
This webinar will focus on real world applications of vertical farming principles through a case study presented by Boreal Greens. Participants will examine different cultivation techniques including aquaponics and hydroponics, and develop an understanding of the requirements to start and grow an indoor farming business to a commercial scale.
Navigating Approvals Process and Permits for Vertical Farming
This webinar will provide a high-level overview of the permit and approvals process for setting up a vertical farm from a land use, building code and wastewater perspective. A recent start up business will also share their experience of obtaining permits and approvals.

Vertical Farming - Martin Felsen - Urban Lab
Martin Felsen is principal of UrbanLab, an architecture and urban design firm. UrbanLab specializes in developing a catalogue of architectural, and infrastructural strategies, in particular examining natural and artificial systems underpinning urban environments. Martin’s current architecture projects include the design of an urban agriculture buffer zone and pedestrian pathway adjacent to the Chicago River, and a storm/grey water sequestration and recycling master plan for large industrial zones in the City of Chicago. His research focuses on public space, public infrastructure and public resources in American-style cities and megaregions. His goal in the workshop is to relay the opportunities and challenges of designing Vertical Production Farms and Bio-Tech Incubator Vertical Farms.
